The University held an Interuniversity Scientific and Practical Seminar "Language – the Border of National Security"

February 18, 2016 in the cultural and educational centre of Lviv State University of Life Safety at the initiative and under the guidance of the Chair of Ukrainian Studies it was held Interuniversity scientific and practical seminar "Language –the border of national security", the International Day of Mother Language and 145th anniversary of Lesia Ukrainka It was attended by teachers, cadets and students of our University, the Academy of the Army named Petro Sagaidachnyi, Ukrainian Academy of Printing, Lviv State University of Internal Affairs, the Lviv branch of Dnipropetrovsk National University of Railway Transport named by Acad. V. Lazarian.
  Opening remarks were uttered by the director of the Institute of Psychology and Social Security Bohdan Shunevych.  The Head of the department of Ukrainian Studies Marta Labach began the work of the seminar, she stressed that the concept of "mother tongue" is a factor being a nation. The epigraph to the seminar program was Lesia Ukrainka’s words: "The nation must defend its tongue over its territory." Participants discussed crucial, irreplaceable role of language in the existence of the nation itself. Much of the themes dealt with modern accents of Ukrainian issues. In particular, participants talked about the condition and status of the Ukrainian language after the Revolution of dignity, about the impact of globalization on the speech of the modern Ukrainians, the doublespeak in the speech of students, the dialect as a language code of ATO fighters, the prestige of the Ukrainian language in modern society, the Ukrainian language radio of people who are fighting for the right to their own language in their own country and so on.
  From each of our individual depends the state and status of Ukrainian language and not only in their country but in the world as a result of being the nation as a whole.
