Representatives of LSU LS visited Kingston University, London

According to the programs of the British Council's international project on the internationalization of higher education in Ukraine, the European educational project Erasmus+ and agreements between Kingston University (London, UK) and Lviv State University of Life Safety (LSU LS); representatives of LSU LS in 2018, January, 21 till 28 visited Kingston University, London. Vice-rector of scientific and research work Dr. Sc., Professor, Colonel of Civil Defense Andriy Kuzyk, Head of the Department of Civil Protection and Computer Modeling of Ecology-geophysical Processes Dr. Sc., Professor Yuriy Starodub were in delegation.

According to the project of the British Council prof. Andriy Kuzyk was studying the organizational structure of Kingston University, organization of educational process and scientific activity, work of Student Union. During the visit the main focus was on the mechanisms of quality assurance of teaching and learning, the organization of internal student survey and the National Student Survey as parts of the quality assurance system. Prof. Andriy Kuzyk was given an opportunity to be got acquainted with the university's educational and laboratory facilities, electronic educational and administrative resources. Andriy Kuzyk had meetings with Kingston University officials, in particular with Pro Vice Chancellor, International Professor Ronald Tuninga and Manager of Kingston University Study Abroad Office Joan Anton Carbonell-Porro. During the meetings he had conversations about further cooperation between universities. Andriy Kuzyk also familiarized himself with the Center for the Improvement of studying and teaching at Kingston University and attended lessons for graduate students and young teachers for active learning technologies. He also attended a business school at Kingston University, which was held in the form of a contest for educational projects.

Within the framework of the Erasmus+ prof. Yuriy Starodub was involved in the educational process at Kingston University. In teaching mobility prof. Yuriy Starodub lectured or participated on the modules titled, and at the academic level, as stated: -  Global Geology Processes and Hazards (Level 4), Investigating the Earth and Environment (Level 4), Digital Earth and Spatial Analysis (Level 4), Water, Energy and Land Resources Management (Level 7), Spatial Data and the WWW (Level 7), Energy Management (Level 7).

The themes of his teaching was the lecturing and practical lesson: "Using computer simulation and spatial data to reduce risks", lecturing: "Pollution in Western Ukraine as a result of coal mining", participated in the seminar "Renewable and non-renewable energy sources" with the report "Geothermal energy potential of existing deep wells in Ukraine", seminar-discussion "Disasters: seismicity, earthquakes, volcanoes and tsunamis". He attended lectures and practical classes held by other teachers.

Representatives of the Lviv State University of Life Safety took part in a scientific seminar for teachers and students, which presented a project for the purification of near-space from space debris, and attended a meeting of students of engineering specialties with graduates from Kingston University, who occupy high positions in leading companies of world-class. The meeting was held in the form of a conference and aimed at facilitating the employment of graduates.

The experience gained during the visit directed to improve the efficiency and quality of the educational process, the use of informational educational and administrative technologies, the involvement of students in the management of teaching quality and educational activities will be recommended for implementation at our university. Established relationships with the staff of Kingston University will promote the organization of new joint projects, the exchange of relevant scientific, educational information, cultural relations.
