Brett Tashiro and Gary Andrew Pituch visited the University

American guests visited the university and met with
teachers and students of the Department of Foreign Languages and Translation Studies within intercultural dialogue. The foreign delegation includes Brett Tashiro, retired US serviceman, US Army Reserve, and Gary Andrew Pituch, President of the local Orthodox Ukrainian Youth, Director of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church Choir in Port Charlotte, Florida (USA). The guests presented information about their professional and
cultural activities, focused on current global threats and challenges and
security in their countries. The participants touched upon such issues as
COVID-19, the situation with the pandemic and the ways to overcome it, the problem of migration, ethnics, cultural stereotypes, etc. Among discussion subject were also Ukrainian European values, professional demand of an English student-translator, peculiarities of
Ukrainian as a foreign language, the problem of bilingualism and dialects, etc.
Meeting with Ukrainian diaspora of various social and cultural branches is of paramount importance to students who study English and
German as a foreign language, master the specifics of various terminology, which applies to various areas of civil security, emergencies, medicine. Intercultural communication is especially important for improving spoken English, raising the professional level of teachers and students, expanding international relations of the Department of Foreign Languages and Translation Studies. The program of the visit provides acquaintance of foreign guests with the history of creation and functioning of the University,
in particular, the professional and scientific direction of the Department of Foreign Languages and Translation Studies(LSULS).
