EURO-MED-REACT International Table Top Exercise started at LSULS

Table top exercise within the framework of the EURO-MED-REACT international project began today at the Lviv State University of Life Safety. The project is financed by the European Union. Participants of the EURO-MED-REACT project are state institutions from Poland, Lithuania, Romania, Moldova, Slovakia, Jordan, the Czech Republic, as well as world organizations: UN, WHO and OPCW (Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons).
The purpose of TTX, which is the first stage of the implementation of the above-mentioned international project, is the response of local, national and international civil defense forces to a simulated emergency situation, the activation process of the EU Joint Civil Protection Mechanism, mutual cooperation between countries and international assistance in responding to major industrial and natural emergencies.
Our partners from Poland are present locally at the exercise, namely the President of the Voluntary Fire Service of the Republic of Poland Waldemar PAWLIAK, the project leader- the President of ICCSS Krzysztof PATUREJ, the project architect General Bohdan LESNYAKEVICH, as well as the officer responsible for the project of the General Directorate of Civil Protection and Humanitarian of EU aid Geir ELLINGSON, who joins us online.
Rector of the University Myroslav KOVAL, in his opening speech, said: "I want to express my gratitude to all the participants of the international multinational consortium of the EURO-MED-REACT project who participated in its implementation. Without your participation, the implementation of this project would be impossible!".
Table top exercise held in a mixed format and are based on real risk assessment. The scenario of the exercises involves responding to hybrid threats in critical and border infrastructure in the participating countries. During the exercise, all EU tools for civil protection crisis management were tested.
The result of the project implementation is the improvement of both domestic and international coordination - with an emphasis on the use of tools of the OMRC and the EU - preparedness and response to natural and man-made disasters.
