The final online workshop of the EU-CHEM-REACT 2 project took place at Lviv State University of Life Safety

Lviv State University of Life Safety hosted a final online workshop under the EU-CHEM-REACT 2 project “Improving measures to prevent and respond to chemical disasters and natural disasters that simultaneously affect participating countries, through a series of exercise to test and strengthen national capacity through UCPM and international cooperation. "

The meeting was attended by the Deputy Rector of the University Roman RATUSHNYI, Head of the Department of International Cooperation Oleksandr SVIATKEVYCH, specialist of the Department of International Cooperation Nataliia LAZARENKO and research and teaching staff of the University.
Roman Ratushnyi delivered a welcome speech at the opening, thanking all project participants: the international multinational consortium, fire and rescue units from the Czech Republic, Lithuania, Moldova, Poland and Ukraine, international agencies of the UN, WHO, OPCW. He also noted that one of the main tasks of the project was to check the readiness and mutual coherence of the rescue services of the above countries in responding to man-made and natural emergencies in the neighbouring regions of these countries in cooperation with the UCPM.
An important result of this project is also the provision of international technical assistance in the form of procurement of fire and rescue equipment, special equipment, etc., as well as training a group of experts and instructors in Ukraine for effective cooperation with the European Union and their institutions. Also, the successful FX in September 2021 in the Lviv region provided an opportunity to confirm the possibility of activating the UCPM and the opportunity to become part of it in the future.
The added value of the EU-CHEM-REACT 2 project for Lviv State University of Life Safety as an active member of the Consortium and host of field exercises was emphasized, namely we built bilateral cooperation with all partners and expanded educational, training and educational opportunities of LSULS.
In the future, the University offers to use a large network of contacts and a high international position of the International Center for Chemical Safety and Security (ICCSS), as well as training in the capabilities of the UCPM. We offer to train members of the civil defense teams of the EU and other relevant staff.
