Today, within the framework of the project "Ecology - Improving the management of landfills in the Lviv region" on the basis of the Main School of State Fire Service in Warsaw, a final conference was held on "Pollution of solid waste landfills. Challenges and threats to the environment:'' The conference was started by the first Vice-Rector of the University Roman Ratushnyi, emphasizing the importance of modern technologies awareness for household waste disposal and the need for more detailed study of this topic as an essential part of a safe future.

The conference was also attended by the director of the Institute of Civil Protection Prof. Vasyl Popovych, Head of the Department of Applied Mathematics, Assoc. Prof. Myroslava Kusii. Lecturers of the Department of Ecology Nataliia Hotsiy, Iryna Kochmar, Pavlo Bosak, Adjuncts of Ecology Department of Roman Konanets, Kateryna Korol and Adjunct of Management Department Oleh Kovalchuk participated online.

The aim of the final conference is to highlight the main problems and ways to solve the situation with solid waste, their disposal and recycling, and to reveal the complex environmental and fire hazards generated by landfills. The conference participants also presented scientifically sound developments aimed at improving the environmental safety of landfills and revitalization of devastated landscapes.

During the conference, the delegation of the Lviv State University of Life Safety was given the latest laboratory equipment for research in the field of environmental safety. Such modern equipment significantly increases the potential of the certified laboratory of the University for the training of students, cadets and associate professors and helps to detect and monitor contamination.
Long-term cooperation between the Main School of State Fire Service in Warsaw and Lviv State University of Life Safety provides an opportunity to learn best practices in the field of human safety, and to introduce innovative technologies into the educational process. For more than 10 years of cooperation within the framework of the Polish Aid program, 16 international projects have been implemented.
