Today, a landmark event took place at the Lviv State University of Life Safety for the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, the State Fire Service of the Republic of Poland, the Estonian Rescue Council, the Fire and Rescue Service of the Republic of Latvia and the Fire and Rescue Department under the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Lithuania.
The heads of the departmental structures of the five states, Serhii KRUK, Andrzej BARTKOWIAK, Kuno TAMMEARU, Oskars ABOLINSH and Saulius GRAYCIUS signed the Memorandum of Understanding.
Such cooperation certifies the integration of Ukraine into the relevant systems of the European Union, and also aims to join forces for the implementation of joint measures aimed at protecting the population and territories during external armed aggression against Ukraine and after its completion.
Our partners, the rescuers of Poland and the Baltic countries, are aware of the urgent necessity to help Ukraine in the reconstruction and improvement of the unified state system of civil protection and its capabilities for the protection of the population and territories, prevention, preparedness and response to fires and other emergency situations.
To achieve a common goal, the Parties agreed to act through active cooperation based on partnership, mutual assistance and mutual support. Each party shall act in accordance with the Memorandum of Understanding and within the limits of national legislation relating to the competence of the relevant fire and rescue service.
