On December 16, 2021, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine solemnly awarded the Diploma to the winners of the project “Hackathon of Coal Mining Cities. Get new ideas ”of the scientific team“ EcoMining ”of Lviv State University of Life Safety consisting of Ph.D., Professor Vasyl POPOVYCH, Ph.D., Taras SHUPLAT, Ph.D., Pavlo BOSAK, Ph.D. Oleh STOKALIUK, Iryna KOCHMAR and postgraduate students of the Department of Environmental Safety Kateryna KOROL and Andrii VOLOSHCHYSHYN. The ecological project “Ecological and technogenic safety and revitalization of the waste heap of the Nadiia mine” was presented at the competition.
The hackathon was organized with the support of the United Nations Development Program by Synchro Space Group together with the Ukrainian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs and in cooperation with the Ministry of Regional Development, Ministry of Energy and Coal Industry, Ministry of Reintegration of Temporarily Occupied Territories of Ukraine (Lviv region) and the city of Myrnograd (Donetsk region).
The main idea of the presented project of scientists of Lviv State University of Life Safety is revitalization of the Nadiya mine heap through the implementation of a comprehensive reclamation project as part of the future infrastructural transformation of Chervonohrad Mining and Industrial District on the basis of sustainable development.
The meeting discussed the relevance of reclamation projects in devastated areas and solving environmental problems of the regions of Ukraine. The discussion was attended by People's Deputies Yurii Kamelchuk and Viktoriia Hryb, who are responsible for the development and implementation of projects to revitalize the devastated landscapes of industrial regions of Ukraine.
The seminar was also attended by Advisor to the Ukrainian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs Konstantyn Vorobyov and Vice President of the Ukrainian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs, Chairman of the Expert Council Denys Krasnikov.
In the future, scientists of Lviv State University of Life Safety will further implement the project with the development of a plan for revitalization of the mine Nadiya, stages of reclamation, investment plan and negotiations with the leadership of Chervonohrad and Sosnivka for practical implementation of the project increasing the level of environmental safety of the Chervonohrad Mining and Industrial District.
