About us
The University, established by the order of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine of March 29, 2006 № 166-r, is a state-owned higher education institution, the successor of the Lviv Institute of Fire Safety of the Ministry of Emergencies of Ukraine and reports to the State Emergency Service of Ukraine.
The main activities of the University are:
- innovative educational activities at various levels of higher education (including doctors of philosophy and doctors of sciences) for the training of highly qualified specialists in the field of civil defense, as well as for work in other fields in accordance with licensed specialties in the fields of "Civil Security", "Natural Sciences" "," Humanities "," Social and Behavioral Sciences "," Information Technologies "," Transport "," Social Work "," Management and Administration ", etc.;
- certification of applicants for higher education (including doctors of philosophy and doctors of sciences) and awarding academic titles to scientific and scientific-pedagogical workers;
- conducting basic and applied research, dissemination of scientific knowledge;
- scientific and methodological support of sectoral higher education in the field of civil security;
- cultural, educational and upbringing activities.
The strategic objectives of the University are:
- implementation of basic and applied scientific research, scientific and scientific-technical expertise;
- search and implementation of effective forms of integration of training and research work with the activities of practical units, interaction with public authorities and local governments, NGOs and business structures;
- conducting international activities in the field of higher education and science, strengthening the integration of the University into the world educational and scientific space through cooperation with domestic and foreign educational institutions, research institutions, organizations, etc.;
- implementation of cultural, educational and socio-humanitarian activities;
- military training of citizens of Ukraine who have or obtain a higher education degree not lower than a bachelor's degree and are suitable for military service in terms of health and moral and business qualities, according to the training program for reserve officers.
The main tasks of the University are:
modernization of educational activities in the context of entering the European scientific and educational space; ensuring the implementation of state orders and agreements for the training of specialists with higher education in the field of life safety and civil protection, as well as for work in other areas in accordance with the received specialties; training of scientific-pedagogical and scientific personnel, their certification;studying the demand for certain specialties in the labor market and promoting the employment of graduates;advanced training, retraining and specialization of persons in the field of life safety and civil protection by state order, as well as in accordance with applicable law on a contractual basis; determining the content of higher education through the formation of requirements for higher education standards for training and postgraduate education of specialists of different educational and qualification levels in the field of civil protection;
preparation of citizens for admission to higher educational institutions (pre-university training courses).

To implement the main tasks in the structure of the University also created educational, educational and methodological, scientific and organizational, research, management, administrative and economic and other support units.
In addition, the structure of the University has separate structural units:
- Higher Vocational School of Lviv State University of Life Safety (Vinnytsia);
- Lyceum of Civil Defense of Lviv State University of Life Safety (Vinnytsia).
