Department of the Emergencies Consequences Liquidation
The key objectives of the department are:
- further training and specific job preparation of employees of government agencies and departments of State Emergency Service of Ukraine;
- organizing and providing special training for business entities that issue licenses for fire protection activities;
- delivering classes on Basics of Fire Safety to business entities of various forms of ownership.
During 2013, 551 employees of government agencies and departments of State Emergency Service of Ukraine topped up their qualification at the Institute of Postgraduate Education of the University, including heads of city and district administrations (departments); chiefs (deputies) of the departments (sectors) on the NAP; senior engineers (inspectors) departments for naps; inspectors of State Fire Control Service; chiefs of State department of fire-prevention security guards and others, as well as 1187 students from special business entities that issue (confirm) a license for fire protection activities.
Upon completion of special training courses, students receive a certificate of advanced training in compliance with the applicable law.

Scientific-methodical work of the department:
Areas of research:
The research work is an integral component of the department’s educational activities and is done to integrate scholarly, educational and production activities into the system of higher education.
On March 20, 2014 department lecturer Sergiy Emelianenko successfully defended his PhD thesis on the topic "Impact of factors on the risks of the fire in the residential sector (as based on the city of Lviv)”.
Department staff carries out dissertation research on the following topics:
- The use of scenario-case approach to the decision making while fighting with fire on the cereal elevators . (V. Korniychuk),
- Improving the efficiency of industrial dust catchers.( M. Basov),
- Characterization of electrical oscillations of automatic fire fighting (R. Sava)
Cultural events, entertainment:
The institute is constantly involved in social and humanitarian work often engaging Human Resources department staff. The main areas of work are awareness raising, advocacy, social and psychological support of the educational process, aesthetic education and leisure activities organisation. The excursions to theaters and museums of Lviv are organized to familiarize students with the architectural and historical heritage of Galicia. Students of the Institute are involved in the scientific-practical conferences and various meetings with the members of other departments of the University.
