«Study tours to Poland» is a ten-day training program for young people from Eastern Europe.

Martha Pryriz, the 4th year student of the Institute of Psychology and Social Security, was this year participant. The selection of applicants was done through competition. The peculiarity of the program is that the organizers take into account not only the letter of motivation of potential participants, but also their academic performance (for the last two terms), social activity and initiative.

Participants were sent to different cities in Poland to study the social, cultural, university, research, and media life in Poland, as well as with the changes that have occurred in this country since 1989.

Our student was sent to the city of Lublin, where she was joined by other 12 students who came from Belarus, Russia and Ukraine.

During her training period Marta attended a series of training sessions (on integration in team, on doing projects), lectures on democracy and government in Poland. Still, the greatest emphasis was made on study visits. Participants visited the Catholic University of Lublin, the Business and Administration School, met the President of Lublin, editor of the newspaper "Lublin Messenger", visited television and radio studios, and visited a dozen of museums. An important insight became the territory of the former concentration camp - Majdanek.

There were two trips: to Kazhymezh Dolny and to Warsaw, where participants visited the Polish Parliament and the Presidential Palace (Warsaw).

It should be noted that participation in this program was also a rewarding experience in the field of psychology. Ten hours were devoted to getting acquainted with the Foundation "Projector", which works with children from rural schools. Also, a requirement for participants was to conduct a two-hour sessions with children, which certainly had to include interactive activities and games. Also, on the final day of the program, participants visited the organization called “Madonna of Mercy" (training and development of people with mental disabilities), were familiarized with the peculiarities of art therapists’ and psychologists’ work.

Since the working language was Russian, the translator - Evelyn Hrabos - within ten days helped all participants to adapt to the new environment, and the hosting foundation "KReAdukatsiya", led by Silvia Tsiolek ensured that the time spent in Poland was not only entertaining but also educational and informative.
