University Scholars Tested Detector for Firefighters’ Environmental Suit
An individual overdense heat flow detector for protective clothing of different types was tested at the protective clothing test site at Lviv State University of Life Safety. The academic staff of the University as well as adjuncts, masters, and cadets took part in testing process led by Professor V.Kovalyshyn.
The individual overdense heat flow detector is designed to warn the firefighter working in the area of high temperature, that the heat flow density became critical for the protective clothing. The usage of this device, particularly in the Firefighting and Rescue Services, will secure the integrity of the protective suits, thus saving firefighters’ lives and health. The device operates in two modes: I - heat flow up to 7 W/m2; II - heat flow up to 40 kW/m2. The device buzzes when the heat flow density becomes critical for the protective clothes.
The device was designed by Professor V.Kovalyshyn, whose thesis was dedicated to it.
