Honorary Doctor of University, Notable Scholar, Teacher and Philosopher – Ivan Andrijovych Ziaziun Passed away.
The presidentship and academic staff of Lviv State University of Life Safety deeply regret the loss of Ivan Andriiovych Ziaziun who was the notable world class scholar, professor, philosopher and true patriot of Ukraine.
The academician I.Ziaziun is notable scholar in the field of vocational pedagogy, education philosophy, and aesthetic education of the youth. He was the initiator and director of the “Teacher” program development which has gained the state status.
He was the President of International Association of Makarenko-experts in 1998-2000 and was recognized as a “Man of the year” by American Biographical Institute in 1998.
Ivan Andrijovych is the author of more than 250 works, including manuals, teaching and courseware manuals, monographs on pedagogical excellence, continuous professional education as well as ethics and esthetics, Ukrainian and foreign culture theory. In particular: “Principles of pedagogical excellence” (1987, 1989); “Pedagogical excellence” (1997); “Fairness of pedagogical action” (1998); “Continuous professional education: problems, retrieval, perspective” (2000); “Pedagogy of goodness” (2000).
“Pedagogy is my life” is epigraph to his last book and Ivan’s Andrijovych life credo. Philosopher, scholar, rector of pedagogical institute, public education minister, the president of academic scientific-research institute, the head of specialised academic council – these are merely the steps to ultimate enlightenment – Teacher’s Mind. I. Ziaziun said that teacher is the guide to victorious power of Goodness and Love, Truth and Beauty.
The ideas and statements outlined in I. Ziaziun works are the main fields of concern of The Institute of Pedagogy and Psychology of the National Academy of Pedagogical Sciences of Ukraine, which he headed for 10 years. This institute is the state leading scientific institution where the philosophy education, vocational and high education history, psychology-pedagogical guide of teachers and professional education of future specialists, pedagogical technology of continuous professional education, comparative professional pedagogy and psychology, professional art education problems are investigated.
I.Ziaziun founded the scholar school which educates the generation of the Ukrainian scholars. Under his supervision 5 doctoral and 14 master’s dissertations were written and presented.
“Teacher, his mastery, talent – is wellspring of nation wealth, which needs the intellectual, ethic-and-esthetic culture in times of upheaval and problems”. It is written in introduction of “Fairness of pedagogical action”. We will always remember I. Ziaziun as Teacher, Philosopher and Personality like that.
