Academics Discuss Problems and Prospect of Social Work Development in Ukraine
On March, 19-20 the Ukrainian scientific and practical conference “Social Work in Ukraine: problems and Prospects of development” was held in Lviv State University of Life Safety. It was organized by the humanities department. The following issues were discussed at the conference: the existing problems in social sphere and their solution, experiences sharing between the participants of the conference, analysis of future social workers training in Higher educational establishments.
First Vice-Rector of the University, Myroslav Koval and the director of the Institute of Psychology and Social Work, PhD Bohdan Shunevych greeted the participants of the conference.
At the break-out sessions on March 19, a lot of experienced scholars had a chance to present their ideas covering a range of important topics, including the philosophy “goodwill” as social workers’ priority and “Ideal teacher”:students’ perspective. Not only the experienced academics but also young scholars, students of Lvv state University of Life Safety and other institutions had a chance to speak on their topics: “Child abuse: types and features”, “socialization of the disabled”, “Migrant workers’ children as another type of orphans”.
All in all the representatives of 14 higher educational establishments applied for the conference and about 83 reports have been submitted so far.
