The Cadets of LDU LS Took Part in the International Exercise in Elimination of Consequences of Natural and Technogenic Emergencies “Ukraine-2015”

​On 24 September the cadets of LDU LS took part in the international exercise in elimination of consequences of natural and technogenic emergencies “Ukraine-2015”. In particular they were involved in supervision of massive forest fire and were able to cooperate with teams from other countries-participants.
The acts of fire-rescuing units were observed by the chairman of SSES of Ukraine Mykola Chechotkin, counsellor of the minister of MIA of Ukraine Zorian Shkiriak, the heads of territorial units of SSES of Ukraine and representatives of 34 members of NATO.
In general more than 600 officers, cadets and students were involved in extensive international exercises. Among them were experts who estimated the acts of the fire-rescuing teams as the members of international expert groups. There also worked a group of teachers, cadets and students who work and study at the department of foreign languages and technical translation as military translators.
“International exercise “Ukraine – 2015” is a great possibility for our cadets and students that study at 25 different specialities in the sphere of human safety to exercise practical skills in elimination of emergencies together with fire-rescue units of SSES and countries members of NATO. We gained great experience which we are going to apply in educational process to improve the level of our experts,” said Mykhailo Kozyar during the exercise.
Due to the tactical concept technogenic catastrophe emerged in the one of towns of Lviv region: as a result of explosion at one of industrial plants the destruction of buildings emerged, fire in the buildings and around them arose, ammonia leaked on the industrial chemical ground, and there were people under the obstructions.
During the rescuing operation the team-participants reconnoitered the area of emergency situation using air and land equipment. They rescued people who were under construction, during which dog expert units, medical units and psychologists of SSES showed their work. Pyrotechnical units checked the area.

The president of Ukraine and NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg opened the exercise. The ceremony of opening and closing were accompanied by brass band of Lviv State University of Life Safety.
