The Chief Commandant of the State Fire Service of the Republic of Poland became Honorary Doctor of Lviv State University of Life Safety (Video)

​September 30, solemn opening of the Academic Council of Lviv State University of Life Safety took place on the occasion of the diploma of Honorary Doctor (Doctor Honoris Causa) presentated to Chief Commandant of the State Fire Service of the Republic of Poland, Brigadier General Weslaw Lesniakevych.
The rector of Lviv State University of Life Safety Mykhailo Kozyar, commanders provinces and educational establishments of the State Fire Service of Poland, members of the Academic Council, the teachers and the students community of the University took part in the event.
    Solemn meeting was opened jointly by the execution of national anthems of Ukraine and Poland. "Awarding an honorary doctorate (Doctor Honoris Causa) of Lviv State University of Life Safety - is one of the greatest events in the life of our establishment, as it is the evidence of the growth and strengthening of our university academic community, - began the meeting the rector Professor Mychailo Kozyar. – The honorary doctors of the university are prominent public and cultural figures, scientists. These people are world-known people." He said that Weslaw Lesniakevych contributed much in the development of cooperation between Ukraine and Poland in the field of human security and deepening of relations between the scientific and educational institutions.
    On behalf of the Scientific Council Mykhailo Kozyar awarded the diploma of Doctor Honoris Causa Lviv State University of Life Safety Chief to the Commandant of the State Fire Service of the Republic of Poland, Brigadier General Weslaw Lesniakevych.
   Uttering inaugural report Weslaw Lesniakevych addressed the solemn academy, noting that today there were all supporters of building the Polish-Ukrainian friendship and strengthening fraternal relations between the states fire and rescue services: "It is very important for me to be awarded the title of Doctor Honoris Causa especially at Lviv State University of Life Safety. After all, here are the origins of international cooperation between institutions and departments of fire and rescue services of our countries. This event is a powerful demonstration of joint steps towards integration into the global system of people security. We have been cooperating for over 15 years, during which we implemented many large-scale international projects that helped our experts to gain valuable experience, learn to work together during large emergencies within cross-border cooperation and confront effectively global threats and challenges, ensuring the safety of our brotherly peoples."
    Let us remind that Poland is the first European country with which the institution has established close cooperation. Poles have become reliable partners and friends, and our cooperation gives positive results of training in the field of human security. Today, in difficult time for the country, we also feel the support of our Polish colleagues. Such cooperation makes it possible to learn from our European colleagues to study joint actions during the elimination of major emergencies, develop concepts for security use of scientific achievements and, ultimately, the experience of training specialists.
The solemn meeting of the Academic Council dedicated to awarding the diploma of Doctor Honoris Causa Weslaw Lesniakevych was finished with the chorus performance of the composition «Gaudeamus».
