The Department of Foreign Languages and Technical Translation held Scientific Meetings in the University during September

​During September the Department of Foreign Languages ​​and Technical Translation held a series of meetings and scientific seminars. In particular webinar "Distance and combined studies in Ukraine and abroad" was reopened. During the webinar Lviv, Kiev and Kharkiv universities teachers were able to communicate in video mode. In the webinar the report of the head of the laboratory of distance education of the National Technical University "Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute" Ph.D. Professor Volodymyr Kukharenko made a report on the structure and purpose of open distance learning course "The curator of the content".  Distance course " The curator of the content " is designed for eight weeks and focused on graduate and postgraduate students, teachers, distance education professionals who wish to learn the key skills of network information analyst.
The professor of Foreign Languages ​​and Technical Translation LSU FS Bogdan Shunevych spoke about the prospects of distance learning translators at our university. In particular, he spoke about the number and content of distance learning courses which are based on the virtual learning environment Moodle and available web pages of our institution.
During the session of the seminar "Theory and practice of art and military-technical translation" and discussed the issues of intercultural communication. Associate Professor of Applied Linguistics of National University "Lviv Polytechnic", Candidate of Philology Liudmila Bordiuk stressed that while translating we should always remember that the message does not only sound or is written in another language, it is also directed to a different cultural environment.  Continuing the theme of cross-cultural differences, the lecturer of the department of FL nd TT Natalia Kostyk told about the ways of translating the lexical units of text that have no match in the target language.
At the meeting, "Scientific and methodical seminar of teachers of foreign languages ​​educational establishments of Ukraine" Associate Professor of German Philology of  Eastern-European National University named after Lesya Ukrainka (c. Lutsk) Natalia Smoliar revealed the role of intercultural aspect in foreign languages learning, especially formulated the main purpose of intercultural communication teaching, which is sensitizing of students for possible sources of confusion that can be caused by intercultural differences.
The report of the lecturer of the department of FL and TT Ivanna Demydiak concerned the dialogue speech connected with the professional occupation of students of non-language faculties. I. Demydiak offered the audience a set of tasks for the development of these skills.
