A Round Table "Development of Civic Competencies of Adults in Ukraine: the Problems and Prospects" Took Place within the International Days of Adult Education (VIDEO)

​October 6, a round table "Development of Civic Competencies of Adults in Ukraine: the Problems and Prospects" took place within the International Days of Adult Education at the Lviv State University of Life Safety.
The president of the National Academy of Pedagogical Sciences of Ukraine Academician Vasyl Kremen, Rector of Lviv State University of Life Safety Professor Mykhailo Kozyar, Professor Georgii Filipchuk, Academician-Secretary of the department of professional education and adult education NAPS professor, academician Nellia Nychkalo, representatives of DVV International in Ukraine, Administration of the President of Ukraine and others took part in it.
One of the most urgent tasks of modern education and upbringing in Ukraine is to create conditions for the formation of the citizen for who democratic civil society is the focus for the disclosure of his/her creative possibilities, satisfaction of personal and public interests.This system can provide civic education, which aims to prepare young people for active participation in a democratic society and the formation of civic competence.
The functions of adult education system are:
• adaptive - adaptation to the new requirements of life in society that changes dynamically;
• compensating - reproduction of educational opportunities that were previously missed or lost;
• pouring - enrichment of activity possibilities of man and his spiritual world;
• analytical - research and analysis of the factors that influence the citizens’ need for lifelong learning;
• transforming - changing educational and qualification of the person for life, as well as intellectual and cultural level of society;
• predictive - scientific prediction of the individual and society;
• Communicational - transmission of social experience from generation to generation;
• Promotional - promotion of person’s educational needs.
The preparation of the International Day of adult education in Ukraine joined: National Commission of Ukraine for UNESCO, Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, National Academy of Pedagogical Sciences of Ukraine, Lviv State University of Life Safety, National Union of Journalists of Ukraine, Representation of DVV International in Ukraine, National Academy of the President Public Administration of Ukraine, Lviv Region and Lviv City Councils and others. From 5 to 10 October round table, opened the conference Forum on Adult Education Festival educational services for adults and job fair will be held.
