The Best Fire-rescuers were awarded for Courage and Heroism in the Performance of their Tasks (VIDEO)

February 18, at Art and Culture Centre of Lviv State University of Life Safety it was the servicemen and commanders who displayed heroism and courage in liquidation of emergencies and their consequences, as well as participants in anti-terrorist operations in the of SES of Ukraine, Lviv State University of Life Safety, Civil Service of Ukraine for war veterans and members of the antiterrorist operation in Lviv region and Ukrainian Association of war veterans and civil protection participated in the ceremony.
Rector of the university, Mykhailo Kozyar with the president of the association of war veterans and civil protection Victor Domanskyi, for meritorious service, bravery, courage and professionalism during the emergency response, awarded 25 fire-rescuers from territorial bodies of SES of Western region.
Mykhailo Kozyar thanked rescuers who with honour and courage provide protection for human life and national wealth from fire and flood: "I want to thank all those who are in difficult time for the state chose this difficult occupation. You have chosen the profession of brave, strong, who are willing to help anyone who is in trouble, prevent and reverse the effects of man-made emergencies and natural disasters, to protect the health and lives, provide assistance to victims.  "
It was held a concert and shown a documentary film about workers of SES in liquidation of emergencies and their consequences for the participants of the event there. Rescuers acquainted with the history of the University, its academic and research base.

Last year, saving others 5 firefighters-rescuers died. In particular in the area of ATO it was killed 18 workers of SES and 32 - were injured. 
In 2015, 148 emergencies were registered in Ukraine. Because of these emergencies 242 people (including 40 children) were killed and 962 - were injured (including 422 children).
In regions and in Kyiv, it was registered 79,581 fires. The number of people killed as a result of fires decreased by 13.3% to 1,947 against 2,246. The number of injured in fires also decreased by 6.2% to 1,360. Losses caused by fire are 5 billion 676 million 392 thousand UAH, which constitute direct losses of 1 billion 458 million 296 thousand UAH D, and side - 4 billion 218 million 96 thousand UAH.
Since the beginning of the year in Ukraine there were 6 thousand 218 fires, of which 4 thousand 231 in residential sector. Only last night in Ukraine there were 100 fires (including 62nd housing sector), which killed 6 people and injured 3 people. Overall in 2016 on the fires there were killed 360 people and injured 184 people.
