The Department of Foreign Languages and Technical Translation Held the Scientific Seminars at the University

During February 2015 at the Department of Foreign Languages ​​and Technical Translation it was held two inter-university seminars.
The seminar "Scientific and methodological seminar of foreign languages ​​and translation teachers of higher education in Ukraine" was dedicated to innovative methods of teaching foreign languages. The senior lecturer of Latin and Foreign Languages ​​at Lviv National Medical University D. Halytskyi Liubov Maniuk spoke about the possibility of using social networks for training future doctors’ professional communication. She stressed that with proper methodical use social networks contribute to the skills required for communication, namely creative thinking and concise wording opinion.
The lecturer in foreign languages ​​and technical translation of LSU LS Nataliia Kostyk focused her attention on non-traditional methods of teaching English, including the methods of Olexander Drahulkin, Dmytro Petrov, Tymur Baitukalov, Mykola Zamiatkin, Halyna Kytajhorodska, Ilona Davidova and others. The use of such techniques in the study of English language greatly accelerates mastery of communication skills and makes the learning process interesting and informative.
At the seminar "Theory and practice of art and military-technical translation" it was discussed the principles of teamwork translators. Coordinator of volunteer translators of Ukrainian educational platform «Prometheus» Oksana Kuzmenko spoke about the experience of translation of massive open online course. She was a manager of translation course "How to create a start-up," which consisted of 30 people, and described the stages of work on the translation and subtitling features of video lectures. Associate professor of foreign languages ​​and technical translation of LSU LS Iryna Drobit in its report revealed the features of translator’s motivation to work in volunteer projects.
