Версія для друку

On March 11, 2016 the Department of Technical Translation at Lviv State University of Life Safety hosted a local workshop within LocJAM contest, which is a non-profit initiative aimed at spreading the word about videogame localization and promote multilingual digital culture.

LocJAM is an online contest for game translators. A short open source game in English is suggested for localization, and both professionals and amateurs can submit their translations.

Iryna Drobit, an instructor at Lviv State University of Life Safety, Tetyana Struk, a director of Linguistic Centre, Translation and Localization Company and Roman Hrischenko, a student held a workshop within the range of similar events organized by universities all over the world. The workshop aimed at highlighting peculiarities of localization process and covered linguistic, cultural, commercial and technical aspects of localization.

It is worth mentioning that a few days earlier Wargaming, a game developing company announced on its website that the 9.14 version of a famous computer game World of Tanks, which is played by millions of gamers, is localized into Ukrainian. The Department of Technical Translation at Lviv State University of Life Safety and Linguistic Centre are promoting the Ukrainian language to be included in the contest next year.
