The University and Embassy of Canada to Ukraine continue their Cooperation in Civil Defense Field

On March 17, on the framework of cooperation between embassy of Canada to Ukraine and LSU LS, the University was visited by the commander of Canadian military mission contingent in Ukraine lieutenant-colonel Tim Arseno. This visit was the next step after the visit of Canadian ambassador to Ukraine Roman Vashchuk.

During the meeting, the rector of the university Mykhailo Kozyar and the guest discussed areas of cooperation to provide people safety and to train appropriate specialists. In addition, they discussed the possibility of methodical and humanitarian relief concerning the activity of new department of engineering, deminer and pyrotechnic works of LSU LS. The guest also got acquainted with educational system, training of fire-rescuers and educational base of the university.

Tim Arseno underlined that Ukraine does not have only military mission. Canada provides economical, governmental and humanitarian relief. He said that Canada had already invested 8 million Canadian dollars to provide nonlethal ammunition to Ukraine and had conducted training for more than 500 Ukrainian servicemen. «It is very important for Canada to support Ukraine to be a sovereign, secure and stable state», - he added.
