All personal SCUBAs used in the training process have to be checked during annual maintenance or monthly testing #2 and in other appropriate cases.

LABTEC is a modern analogue multytester, the main feature of which is the presence of "artificial lungs". "Artificial lungs" perform the respiration and are able to control the airflow according to working conditions.
Master of gas-smoke rescue service checks the tightness of the high-pressure system of the apparatus, pressure gauge indicators, and alarm triggering limits. It is also necessary to check the air pressure in the reducer chamber and the safety valve gear. Besides, it is important to check the tightness of the device for dilution to avoid penetration of toxic substances.
At the end of the test a conclusion on the possibility of the further use of SCUBA in terms of smoke, toxicity, low oxygen concentrations and high concentration of volatile combustion products should be done.
The head of Educational Fire and Rescue Unit lieutenant colonel Vasyl Kovalchyk admitted that such an experience allows understanding the purpose, structure, working principles and characteristics of SCUBA’s units and mechanisms.
