RECTOR OF LVIV STATE UNIVERSITY OF LIFE SAFETY VISITS KINGSTON UNIVERSITY IN THE PROGRAM ERASMUS +

Rector of Lviv State University of Life Safety Myhaylo Kozyar and lecturer in civil protection and computer modeling of eco-geophysical processes Havrys Andrii carried out the visit in the frame of the program ERASMUS +  to Kingston University in London.

During the first day visit they met with the chief fire officer of the district Surrey Steve Owen- Hughes and discussed the structure of the Fire and Rescue Service in Britain and issue rate of emergency response in the area. Also, our delegation visited and got acquainted with the training center at the Fire and Rescue District of Surrey.

The next day there was a meeting with the Deputy Rector Chancellor Professor Martin Jones. At this meeting they discussed future cooperation between universities in the international programs ERASMUS+ and British Council, and a visit of Dr. Martin Jones to Lviv State University of Life Safety on the occasion of the 70-th anniversary of our University.

Rector Myhaylo Kozyar made a presentation at the scientific seminar of the Faculty of Science and Engineering, Kingston University on the theme "Civil protection in Ukraine: from Chernobyl to anti-terrorist operation". The report was presented in English.

Lecturer Havrys Andrii attended the one-day workshop entitled "Mapping Hogsmil territory", whose participants were representatives of seven public, academic and volunteer organizations.

The work meetings with Dr.David Kidd on modeling of hydrologic events based on remote sensing and Dr.Ian Greatbatch on actions to improve performance of fire-rescue units in emergency situations using GIS technology were carried out.

As part of the cultural program of the visit the representatives of our University made a sightseeing tour of central London.
