On March 30 Lviv Regional Conference "Together for Kids! Deinstitutionalisation and development in the field of social policy" took place at Lviv State University of Life Safety. It was organized by Department of Humanities and Social Work (LSULS), CF "Ukrainian Galician Foundation" with the assistance of the Lviv City Council and the Office of Children's Services (Lviv Regional State Administration) in the framework of Civic Campaign "Opening the Door for Children".

Oksana Ruby, the Councelor of Lviv Mayor; Bogdan Shunevych, director of Educational  and Research Institute of Psychology and Social Protection; Lyudmila Kryvachuk, PhD in Public Administration made their speeches on the welcome ceremony. The main purpose of the event was to discuss real changes in work with children and families. It was also the first step of the pilot project aimed at boarding schools improving and creation of the Center to support children and families. Such cooperation is a great opportunity for our University to introduce the experience of practitioners in the field of social work to the educational process.

On the same day IV National Scientific Conference "Mathematics Around Us: Past, Present and Future» was held. It was attended by cadets and students from Hetman Petro Sahaidachnyi National Army Academy, Cherkassy Institute of Fire Safety named after Chornobyl Heroes, Lviv State University of Life Safety, Lviv Institute of Economy and Tourism and Lviv Technical College.

The participants prepared interesting reports on the history of mathematical discoveries and considered application problems that illustrate the application of mathematics in various fields of human activity.
