Management of the University and the teaching staff express deep condolences to the family and friends of Pylyp Desyatnikov
On May 1, 2017 honoured veteran, a man who truly became a living legend of Fire and Rescue Service, retired General Pylyp Desyatnikov passed away at the age of 89.
Pylyp Desyatnikov was born in November 1928 in the village Rozsoshynske (Zernograd District of Rostov region).
In 1949 he graduated from the Kharkov Fire School of MIA of USSR. In 1968 he passed graduating exams at Kyiv Construction Engineering Institute. Between 1958 and 1993 he rised through the ranks from officer of staff training in Kyiv to the Chief of the Fire Department of MIA of Ukraine.
Pylyp Desyatnikov paid much attention to the improvement of fire protection service, increasing of combat capability and strengthening material and technical base. During the liquidation of the Chornobyl Accident he showed courage and professionalism in extinguishing a fire on the 4th Unit.
In 1994 he retired but continued to participate in public life. He was elected a president of the Chornobyl veterans organization, Deputy of the Board of the Veterans' Affairs of Ukraine. Between 1973 and 1975 he was elected a deputy of the Kyiv City Council.
For many years of fruitful service Pylyp Desyatnikov was awarded with many orders and medals.
