Felix Della (1943-2017) - our Polish friend and brother
On July 14, 2017, the legendary person, a professional who carried out a number of reforms in the Polish Fire and Rescue Service, the first Chief Commandant of the State Fire Service of Poland, Lieutenant-General Felix Della passed away. He was born on October 4, 1943 in the village of Kalina Mala. In 1967 he graduated from the School of Fire Service Officers in Warsaw. In 1978 he was promoted to a professional engineer at the High School of Fire Service. At the same time he got a second degree in management in the University of Silesia in Katowice. In 1971 Felix Delia was appointed the Deputy Commandant of the municipal fire brigade in the city of Beethom. In 1984 he became tje Head of the School of Fire Service in Krakow. On February 25, 1992 he was appointed to the position of Chief Commandant of the State Fire Service, which was held until January 3, 1997. In 1992 he received the rank of superbogger, and in 1997 became a brigadier general. From 1997 to 1998 Felix Della was a head of the Polish central body for civil defense. In 1998 he retired, but continued helping colleagues in developing security systems. Since 2001 he has served as Director of the Department of Public Security of the Ministry of the Interior of Poland, and since 2002 - Director of the Central Museum of Fire in Myslowice.
Thanks to him the international relations between educational institutions: the Krakow Post-Graduate School of Fire Protection and the Lviv Fire and Technical School began. In 1989, the first exchange of cadets was carried out.
The Academic Council, the administration and the staff of the University express their sincere condolences to everyone who knew this extraordinary personality.
The light memory of Mr. Felix Della will remain in our hearts forever.
