LSULS CONTINUES COOPERATION WITH THE KINGSTON UNIVERSITY UNDER THE ERASMUS +

The lecturer of the Department of Civil Protection and Computer Modelling of Ecogeophysical Processes of Lviv State University of Life Safety, Andrii Havrys, visited Kingston University of London in the frame of  ERASMUS + program.

During lectures, seminars and practical classes were held on the following topics: "Hydrological modelling in ArcGIS program", "Using the HEC-RAS program for modelling of the territory flooding", "Using of the GIS technologies to prevent emergencies". The evaluation of the completion of the students theses on the specialty "GIS for hazards and emergency planning". Classes were carried out in English language.

Work meetings were held with Dr. David Kidd about hydrological modelling based on Earth remote sensing data, Dr. Nigel Wallford on the use of GIS technologies for identification of epidemiologically hazardous areas and Dr. Tracey Coates on engineering and technical measures to protect the territories from flooding.

In addition, Andrii Havrys participated in the night exercises of the Surrey fire and rescue department. The scenario was used to save victims from the fifth floor of a multi-storey building and to eliminate indoor fire.
